Rules to become a successful investor

Whether you’re an old-timer or are planning on buying your first share, these *12 rules* will help you learn how to become an investor who is knowledgeable, disciplined, and successful.(TTA)

*1. Diverse Portfolio*

Your asset allocation should be diverse, and should ideally not be more than 10% in one single investment instrument. So distribute your capital between a variety of funds and stocks, in order to spread out your risks. Financial institutions offer Mutual Funds with a wide range of investment opportunities.

*2. Don’t Invest if You Don’t Understand*

Most people tend to ignore all financial jargon and invest their money into products of which they do not understand the risks. Understand the terms and conditions clearly before you make an investment.

*3. Invest Long Term*

In long term investments, compounding interest on your capital makes a big difference to your profits over time. Whereas, playing the market to make quick profits usually doesn’t turn out to be as favorable.

*4. Invest Regularly*

Investing periodically throughout the year can help you take advantage of the market highs while keeping you from getting hit too hard by the lows.

*5. Stay Updated*

The more you keep yourself abreast of the latest happenings, the more knowledge you will have about how to increase the value of your investment portfolio. Read the newspaper, watch the business channels on TV, and browse the internet for the latest news.

*6. Beware of Herd Mentality*

You will come across people making money rules without having done much research. Don’t follow the herd. Don’t invest in a stock just because all your friends are. Always make an informed decision, before taking any action.

*7. Don’t Invest Only to Avoid Tax*

Many people invest in products solely because they want to save on taxes. However, in doing so they completely overlook the disadvantages of investing in that sector. Paying taxes is much cheaper than paying unreasonably high fees and charges!

*8. Be Disciplined*

If you want to be a successful investor, then you must follow a disciplined investment approach. It is critical to keep the long term picture in mind and don’t let the everyday volatility of the market freak you out.

*9. Keep Emotions at Bay*

Often investors end up losing money because of their inability to keep their emotions in check. In order to make sound investment decisions, it is important to not let your emotions cloud your financial judgments.

*10. Only Invest Your Surplus Funds*

It is always better to stay on the safe side, so only invest if and when you have surplus funds. Don’t dump in your retirement money or your children’s college savings into the stock market. Though you’re investing money for profits, remember that these are funds that you cannot afford to lose.

*11. Monitor Your Portfolio*

Make it a point to frequently compare your portfolio’s performance with a standard benchmark. This will help you detect the funds or stocks that are not doing well, and the ones that are. You can accordingly sell the bad ones, and buy more of the profitable ones.

*12. Seek Professional Help*

If you don’t have the time or the knowledge to review your profile and make sound investment decisions, then it is important to hire an expert. Take professional help from financial firms like us who provide professional wealth management services for your investments.

These 12 rules will help you make decisions that will benefit you in the long run. Follow them diligently, and be rest assured that you’re on the path to financial success.

How to decide which stocks to invest in

1) Research each company and sector

Before putting your hard-earned money into a company, it is very important to learn about the company. You should be aware of the company’s fundamentals, its future prospects. One should know about government policies and industry regulations and its corresponding impact on a company’s long-term potential.

2) Earning Visibility

The market is always a slave of earnings. There can’t be a better trigger for a stock than its future earning potential. Understanding the company’s products/services, clients, market size can be important indicators to determine a company’s future earnings prospects.

3) Competitive Analysis

A company’s strengths and weaknesses can be judged best when it is pitted against its peers. It is important to determine where a company stands within the industry that it operates in and how it fares on various financial parameters. A comparison with the same-sized company with similar offerings can give a better idea about a company’s position.

4) Check Financial Leverage

The balance sheet of a company is in a way its health card. How a company is able to utilise its financial resources-internal, as well as external speaks volumes of its operative and financial strength.

An investor should beware of a company with high debt. Debt to Equity is the best ratio to determine the leverage of a company. A lower D/E ratio is considered better under the usual circumstance.

However, it is best to compare a company’s leverage against its peers to determine the acceptable ratio for the company of your choice.

5) Price to Earnings Ratio

P/E is the widely accepted ratio that indicates whether a stock is overvalued or undervalued. The acceptable P/E ratio again varies from sector to sector. Hence, peer comparison gives an ideal P/E that could be assigned to a stock.

Apart from these factors, the management’s track record and effectiveness of its leadership team are crucial to a company’s fortunes. A well-managed company often enjoys the highest amount of trust from investors.

Investing is simpler than we think

The Steps:

1) Know what to buy
2) Know how much to buy
3) Know when to buy more
4) Know how long to hold
5) Know when to sell

How To Improve Eye Sight?

Frequent and gentle blinking is essential to maintaining healthy eyes. To optimally support your eyes and vision, it’s best to blink softly every two to four seconds, which translates to about fifteen to thirty blinks per minute. By consciously making an effort to softly blink at this rate, over time, your body will turn your conscious efforts into a subconscious habit. You should blink regularly during all activities, including reading, working on the computer, and viewing a TV program or film.
Some yoga and meditation instructors suggest doing exercises that involve fixating your vision on one object – such as the flame of a candle – and doing your best not to blink.
It’s best to “palm” while sitting or lying on the floor, with your elbows propped on a cushioned surface. Close your eyes and then cover them with the palms of your hands, crossing the fingers of one hand over those of the other on your forehead. Don’t, however, apply any pressure on the lids with your palms. Ideally, you’ll “see” a field of intense blackness, which indicates a state of perfect relaxation. If instead you witness illusions of light, bright color, or patches of grey, you’re tense to some degree. However, don’t concentrate on trying to “see” blackness, as the effort itself will produce strain. Rather, passively visualize a pleasant memory-one that helps ease your mind-while keeping your shoulders and neck relaxed. The more frequent and lengthy the periods of palming, the more likely you are to school your eyes to reduce muscle tension, with subsequent benefit to your sight.
This exercise is done to stimulate the muscles around your eye balls (that are present within the eye socket). Rotate your eyeballs, first to the right and left, then upwards and downwards. Do this in the clockwise and anti-clockwise direction for about three to four repetitions.
Stimulating eye muscles technique is simple, but must be done every morning. On waking up, wash your face with water (preferably cool or a little cold water). Then fill your mouth with water, close your eyes and splash cold water onto your eyes. It stimulates the muscles of the eyes, due to the pressure exerted by the water filled in your mouth. The splash of cold water on your face helps enliven the nerve endings and rejuvenates the skin.
Wash your eyes with clean water twice or thrice a day.
And do not put fingers inside your eyes.
Sound sleep is very essential. It not only allows your body to heal and rest, it also gives your eyes much needed relief from bright lights and strain. Sleeping also is a time your body repairs itself, so getting enough time to nap helps the renewal process in the body, especially in the eyes.
Eatables are Dry fruits and nuts, Carrot and Amla, Vitamin A-rich foods, Non-vegetarian foods, Copper-rich foods.

Yoga the path to the inner harmony and peace

The Bhagavad Gita mentions, “Yoga is the journey of the self through the self to the self.”
Yoga is a form of mediation that helps a person get in touch with his mind and body. The mind controls the body, thus when a person becomes acquainted with his mind and body, he often finds inner peace. It is a deeply enriching practice, which produces positive results that cover the spectrum – from increased flexibility, to reduced pain, and a heightened sense of well-being.
In the words of the great yogi Ramana Maharshi, "The idea that there is a goal...is wrong. We are the goal; we are always peace. To get rid of the idea that we are not peace is all that is required." Getting in touch with our inner nature allows us to bring awareness, acceptance, and love to the world we live in.
In The Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna explained the meaning of yoga :
1. “Samatvam yoge uchchte” means, similarity is yoga.
2. “Yogah karmasu kaushalam” means, the successful completion of any work is yoga.
One can get inner harmony and peace if he is not tired. The practice of yoga lightens and comforts the body.

The key to mental health and inner peace is to maintain an inner space that is separate from the happenings in the world of form – the level of material gain and loss. If a person is searching to lose weight, or else relieve pain, yoga can help the person feel relief, which leads to a measure of inner peace. Respecting our bodies is key to a yoga practice.
The goal of yoga is to provide a haven whereby the body, mind and soul can find a sense of balance - harmony.

It enhances the competition, expectations and self-judgement skills and allows to stay in the present moment. Yoga plays a crucial role in purification of body, thoughts, which leads our soul to inner harmony and peace. That’s why, in this era of science, people are willing to learn and practice yoga.
Yoga defines itself as a science--that is, as a practical, methodical, and systematic discipline or set of techniques that have the lofty goal of helping human beings to become aware of their deepest nature. The goal of seeking to experience this deepest potential is not part of a religious process, but an experiential science of self-study. Religions seek to define what we should believe, while a practical science such as meditation is based on the concrete experience of those teachers and yogis who have previously used these techniques to experience the deepest Self. Yoga does not contradict or interfere with any religion, and may be practiced by everyone, whether they regard themselves as agnostics or members of a particular faith.
Meditation or Dhyana is the result of continued, unbroken concentration. It is the seventh step in raja yoga. Concentration makes the mind one-pointed, calm, and serene. Meditation then expands the one-pointed mind to the super-conscious state. Meditation is the uninterrupted flow of the mind towards one object or concept. When the mind expands beyond conscious and subconscious levels and assumes this super-conscious flow, then intuitive knowledge dawns. All the methods of yoga prepare us to eventually reach this stage of meditation and thus attain peace, perfection, and tranquility.
In our daily lives, meditation can be very helpful in eliminating many physical and psychological problems. A significant amount of the disease we experience is actually either directly or indirectly the result of conflicts, repression, or emotional distress arising in the conscious or unconscious mind. Meditation helps us to become aware of these conflicts and to resolve them, establishing tranquility and peace. In this way, meditation becomes a powerful resource for facing the challenges of daily life. There are many disease for which medicines are not found yet. But, practicing yoga can cure them. Even though medicines may have side-effects but yoga never has any side effect.

Many persons who worry about aging consider creams, lotions, and other substances to reduce lines and wrinkles but yoga is a natural method that works and eliminates side effects. Yoga can decrease pain, and increase weight-loss, which in turn, helps the mind since the self-esteem and confidence, is restored. When a person feels confidence and the self-gratification exists, self-peace is often around the corner.
Yogasana is the knowledge which helps in development of one physically, mentally, emotionally and socially. If one is dedicated towards practising asanas, then, he can do anywhere, anytime with no excuses.
There is a saying that if one learns the asanas then he can control over his mind, feelings and emotions.
Asanas are helpful in curing diseases and also they sharpen the mind. Many a times doctors ask patients to practice yoga as it helps in curing permanently without any side-effects.
We all know, our saints and sages used to live for long years without getting into any diseases. There were many discoveries done in ancient times without technologies. This all was possible because our sages practiced yogasanas regularly which helped them in thinking of those discoveries and inventions which are beyond our approaches.
Yoga is the path to harmony and peace.
